FE 1 Midterm

Exploring the Future : "Mockumentary"

Nathan Grieve

In this project, students will work in groups to create a five minute "mockumentary" exploring the evolution of the human experience in the next 200 years.  They will post this video to a teacher-directed website (either Youtube or Moodle) as well as include a written description of their video and comments on other groups'.

 

Author's Directions:

 

Step 1: Teacher can copy this link and add it on their moodle site / personal website. Direct students to this link.

Step 2: Students can read the instructions, assignment topics, rules and assessment guidelines in class.

Step 3: Students work in groups to create a 5-7 minute YouTube video.

Step 4: Students submit the video on YouTube & a link of the youtube video on Moodle site (see example link below)

Step 5: Students watch other team videos and write a response for the writing component of the midterm project.

FE 1 Final

Inventions: Group Presentation and Advertisement

In this project, students work in a group to prepare a print advertisement, video advertisement and deliver a group presentation. The goal is to explain and "sell" their invention.

FE 2 Midterm

Job Interview: Group or Pair Role Play

In this project, students work in a groups or pairs to present a role play of a job interview. Interviewers create a job profile and interviewees create a resume for their selected job.

FE 2 Final

The Best Job in the World: Group Presentation and Individual Video Application

Nathan Galster and Tashia Mante

In this project, students work in a group to prepare a print advertisement and deliver a group presentation. The goal is to attract other students to apply to their company. Students then work individually to create a cover letter or resume and a video application for the job they choose.

Learning Contract

This project is used to fulfill classwork points and is meant to promote self-directed learning. Students choose a goal related to English, a means to work towards achieving that goal and design the assessment for their work. This project is not specifically media related but many students choose to incorporate different media like music or movies to complete their work.
